Busaosowo Foundation 2020 Outlook

The year 2020 has not been without challenges. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of physical activities were constrained. We started the year by continuing with our online project which is Project Inspire that we started in 2019. Project Inspire ran from January to December,2020. We interviewed 12 change makers who have collectively impacted 41,891 lives.

In June,2020 we began a one-month online awareness campaign on Learning Disabilities. We created animation videos educating the public about the signs of learning disabilities and ways parents can help their children improve in this regard.

In July,we expanded the scope of Project Inspire to include Project Inspire Africa where we began to focus on collecting stories aside Nigeria. We interviewed social innovators from Zambia,Congo, Sierra Leone, Malawi,Kenya and Liberia.

As a way of building on Project Inspire Africa,we introduced Africa Development Series a Learning Platform that brings together Non-profit Leaders to equip them with accurate information and tools to help implement effectively their ideas for social development. We held the first cohort in September and the second in December. We had participants from 11 countries in the first cohort and 13 countries in the second cohort with over 40 persons attending.

In October,we actively took part(virtually) in the #ENDSARS protest and demanded for an end to police brutality. We created videos for seven days talking about the protest and praying for those who were at the frontline. We also spoke to the United Nations Hotline on the night of the #Lekkimassacre and they promised to make a statement afterwards.

In December,we were part of the Decent Jobs Youth Lab in Enugu supported by the State Ministry of Youth, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Justice and the International Labour Organization. This event was moderated by our executive director, Busaosowo Bisong Esq.

We look forward to a greater 2021!

For Africa,
Busaosowo Bisong Esq
