COVID-19 : A Better Story

A major excuse of parents who do not spend quality time with their children is lack of time. Their job ,business and the pressure to make money continuously drive them away from their children.

Now in the midst of a national lockdown, I ask you :WHAT IS STILL HOLDING YOU FROM BEEN WITH YOUR CHILDREN? This is the time to make up for the time you have lost already with them in the parenting process. No more travels and earlier morning appointments . And even if your job involves essential services, the pressure is a  bit on the decrease because of our present reality.

Instead of letting your house help bath and feed them this period,DO IT YOURSELF. Look at your children, observe the changes in their bodies, language and mood. Be bold to tell them that you want them to ask you all the questions they have ever wanted to ask.

If you don't know how or where to start, let me suggest a few conversation starters.
1. What do you like most about our family?
2. Do you know that I love very much?
3. Is there anything you are scared of?
4. What subject do you like most and what subject do you wish to be taken out of your curriculum?
5. What do your friends like?
N/B: Be sincere and intentional when asking.

Use this sit -at -home time to observe if there is 'siblings rivalry' at home and continuously begin to kill that competitive spirit by treating everyone fairly ,avoiding comparison and assigning tasks that will take more than one person to accomplish effectively. Even without saying a word, you will gradually drive away strife from your home. Pray with and for your children. Talk about their future and how hard you're working to make that a reality. As much as it lies with you, avoid corporal punishment unless it is 'absolutely necessary'.
Let's build a great post covid-19 society!

See you at the top!
